January 18, 2011 Sunyani, (B/A) Jan. 18, GNA - Visiting Kenyase Union Rovers held B.A. United Football Club to a goalless drawn game in their Polytank Division One Soccer League match played at the Coronation Park, Sunyani.
B.A. United who a week ago played a highly determined game to beat local rivals Bofoakwa Tano 2-1 at the same venue, had a hectic encounter with Union Rovers who also defeated Hwidiem Unity F/C 2-1 in a similar encounter a week ago.
In Sunday's match, goalkeepers Bernard Fiagodzie of Union Rovers and Kwame Gyan of B.A. United put up splendid performance to save their teams from conceding any goal.
Good goalkeeping efforts by Kwame Gyan prevented striker Prince Boso of Union Rovers from utilizing a number of scoring chances including an open chance in the 49th minute when Boso was face with only the yawning net but the chance was squandered.
Earlier in the first half, goalkeeper Rovers Fiagodzie also exhibited some classic shows to save his side from defeat.
United's Abrefah Gyan, Acquah and Adjei Williams nearly have won the match for their team but Fiagodzie stood firm and saved the three successive goal attempts by the trio in the second half.
In another League match played at the Golden City Park, Berekum local Berlin F/C were held to a 1-1 drawn game by visiting Bofoakwa Tano.
Bofoakwa Tano brushed off the home support of Berlin F/C and managed to hold onto a 1-0 first half lead till the tail end of the match when Berlin finally pulled even through a penalty.
