"We have hit the right cord"-Edusei

Accra, Jan. 10, GNA - Black Queens head coach, Anthony Edusei says his charges has hit the right cord as Ghana readies to take on Guinea in an All African Games qualifier this weekend.

The Queens who exited from the first round of the last African Women Championship (AWC) in South Africa will face Guinea in the first stage of the qualifier in Conakry and the Coach told GNA Sports in Accra that the team will come good.

"I have been with this team for some time now and I know it when we hit the right cord. We have been in camp for a while now and have built an incredible cohesion to carry us through."

He told GNA Sports he has improved on the physical, technical and tactical aspects of the team with intensive workout during the last three weeks of preparation and was optimistic the team will deliver.

Coach Edusei said the team has hit its stride with the inclusion of some players from the Black Princesses and the Maidens that has also brought competitiveness into the squad.

"The team is in good shape because a greater part of the squad was in South Africa and the infusion of fresh blood has brought cohesion, high level of performance and the difference will be felt.

"We are now satisfied with the work rate and the competition the introduction of Faiza Ibrahim, Janet Owusu, Rosemary Ampim, Beatrice Sasu bring along."

Coach Edusei's knowledge of the Guineans rests with their physique, strong runs and stamina.

The last time both teams met was in Conakry, July 12, 2004 when the Queens thrashed the host 13-0 in an AWC qualifier with the then Africa's crowned Queen Adjoa Bayor, Florence Okoe and Akua Anokyewaa, registering a hat-trick each.
