December 24, 2010 Adubrim (W/R), Dec. 24, GNA - Eleven communities in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region have been connected to the National Electricity Grid under the Self Help Electrification Project.
The beneficiary communities are Salma, Awiaso, Sendu, Aiyinase- Nyamebekyere, Kanokare, Atababo Ekokonu, Fiasoro, Aluku, Asasetre-Nyamebekyere and Adubrim.
Inaugurating the project, Acting District Manager of Electricity Corporation of Ghana, Mr Anthony Asan called on the people to report any fault they may notice on the facility for rectification.
At Adubrim, the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah was carried in a palanquin amidst songs of praises at the outskirt of the town to the ceremonial grounds for his role in making the project possible.
Nana Assua Miea III, Odikro (Sub-chief) of the town said Mr Buah was a man of his words.
The MP who is also the Deputy Energy Minister expressed the hope that the power supply would facilitate teaching and learning.
He promised to donate computers to schools in the area to promote Information, Communication and Telecommunication.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Daniel K. Eshun called on the communities to foster unity to augment the development of their communities.
He said the assembly had procured a grader to reshape bad roads in the district.
Mr Eshun prevailed upon the communities to rekindle their self-help communal spirit by initiating projects, which he said would be supported by the assembly.
