AESL SHS projects at standstill

A renowned building contractor in Cape Coast, Alhaji Abubakar Alhassan aka Alhaji Ship Engine, has appealed to the government to intervene in the situation where contractors granted contracts under the Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) to provide additional six-unit classroom blocks for some senior high schools, are faced with no funds to operate.

Speaking to the press that accompanied the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe, on a programme to hand over a similar completed project completed near his, Alhaji Ship Engine said his contract were awarded before the completed ones, but the AESL had not provided the needed financial backing to facilitate its early completion.

His project had passed the roofing level at the Academy of Christ the King Senior High School new site, where he was spotted inspecting progress of work.

He explained that he had single-handedly financed the project to its current stage without any financial help from the consultants, and impressed upon the government to intervene to ensure that the projects were completed on time.

His assertion was made manifest at the Breman Askima Senior High School, where the Regional Minister again handed over a classroom.

Another six-unit classroom, under the consultancy of AESL, was at the roofing stage, with the teachers complaining that it was started before the GETFund completed project.
