Pippa's & Ghana Yoga hold immersion session in Accra

Pippa's Health Centre and the Yoga community in Ghana have held a three-day Immersion session for some 60 students across the country.

Held at the plush Pippa's Helath Centre inside the Sansiro Sorts Complex at East Legon, the convention, ably conducted by Krishna Kaur Khalsa, a famous yoga teacher from Los Angeles, California, USA, attracted yoga students of all levels to explore the art and science of Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, and Humanology (as taught by Yogi Bhajan).

The students were also taken through yoga for wellbeing and health, deepened their practice, and had their spirits brightened the Yoga way.

It also introduced the students to the yogic lifestyle, psychology, philosophy, history and anatomy as well as learned the Therapeutic Benefits of yoga and how to help manage stress, weight loss, high blood pressure and diabetes among others.

An established Yoga teacher by all standards, Krishna is one of the top instructors in the world. She is the African Training Coordinator, certified by Kundalini Research Institute and 3HO Foundation as well as the Founder of International Association of Black Yoga Teachers and Y.O.G.A. for Youth. She was featured as one of the 25 most influential Yoga Teachers in the world in Titans of Yoga (the film premiered in U.S. in September 2010).

The Ghana Yoga team is a mix of Ghanaians and expatriates, some certified teachers of Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, others certified and teaching different yoga and meditation styles.

The association seeks to among things, to educate people on the importance of yoga tools for health and wellness, disease prevention, and how yoga helps manage health conditions, share information about yoga classes, organize workshops in and around Accra and train Ghanaian teachers to share yoga's benefits in their own communities in the languages they prefer.

Yoga includes -- Postures (asanas), Exercise Series to awaken the mind and free the body (kriyas), Breath Techniques (pranayam), the power of sound (mantra), and personal daily yoga practice (sadhana).

The next teacher training is in session till 2011.
In future, the team hopes to open a permanent Ghana Yoga center in Accra. The event was the first to be held in Accra.
