Anlo Technical Institute has more space for students

Anloga (V/R), Oct. 26, GNA - A little over 100 vacancies exist at Anlo Technical Institute at Anloga in the Keta Municpality for students seeking admission into technical institutions.

This is against the backdrop of most senior high schools' inability to find place for new students because of classroom and dormitory space.

This came out when the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Amenowode, visited the School on Monday to handover a six-unit classroom block under the government's SHS emergency classroom project to the School.

Mr Marcus Segbefia, the Principal of the Institute, said the well equipped workshops and classroom facilities were being under utilized.

He said carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating as well as fashion classes had between 10 and 15 students instead of at least 20 students.

Mr Segbefia said only 150 first year students had reported to the School out of the 330 posted and called on students seeking first class technical education to come to the Institute.

He said over the years, the Institute had distinguished itself as one of the best, producing high quality human resource and urged parents to send their children to the Institute.

"We have good teachers, teaching and learning tools and other facilities that make teaching and learning very interesting," Mr Segbefia said.

He said the only challenge was dormitory facilities but assured that the situation was being addressed.

Mr Amenowode said he was happy that while other schools were struggling with how to accommodate students, Antech had enough and was calling for more students and described the situation as "good news."

He said he was surprised at the facilities of the Institute and wondered why the Institute's enrolment was low.

Mr Amenowode commended authorities of the Institute for their good maintenance culture and ensuring high academic standards.

Mr Gabriel Kploanyi, the Volta Regional Director of Education, appealed to senior high schools and technical institutions benefiting from the emergency six-unit classroom blocks to reciprocate with good academic performances.

Mr Amenowode and his team later handed over similar facilities to Abor Senior High School and Adidome Senior High School.
