Church celebrates Peace Festival first time in eight years

By GNA

Mozano (C/R), Sept 13, GNA - Members of the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) have celebrated their Peace Festival, the first in eight years.

The festival, which is supposed to be an annual event, was suspended due to litigation over the headship of the Church by two factions.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Mozano, the Headquarters of the Church, Nana Obokomatta IX, Chief of the Gomoa Dasum and Chairman of the 2010 Peace Festival Planning Committee, appealed to members of the MDCC to place the Church above personal interest to enable it to discharge the evangelism it was established to do without hindrance.

Nana Obokomatta commended the committee and members of the Church for celebrating the festival.

"The Church is established to win souls for Christ and if for eight years it could not discharge this mandate due to litigation, then we have disappointed Christ", he said.

Nana Obokomatta said he was happy about the high patronage of the festival and this showed that members were not in favour of the litigation and appealed to the feuding factions to bury the differences and give peace a chance.

He said on the advice of the police the two feuding leaders were prevented from participating in the festival.

He appealed to members to see the successful Peace Festival celebration as the work of God and desist from taking sides in the litigation but to unite to achieve the Church's mandate.
