Premier league debutants Medeama SC have already drummed home their intentions of replicating the feat of Aduana Stars who won the ultimate diadem in their rookie season.
The Tarkwa based club metamorphosed from Kessben FC a fortnight ago after months of speculations over a major takeover in the Ghanaian game and right after that, the owner and bankroller Moses Armah swiftly rolled out plans to make the club one of the powerhouses in the nation's most cherished sport.
Bashiru Hayford, one of the most astute and meticulous tactical wizards in the country has been entrusted with the technical director role with a number of talented stars including veteran Joe Hendericks set to explode when the season gets underway in September.
“We are not in the league to add up to the numbers but we want to make a bold impression to repay the faith put in us by the coach,” Hendericks told DAILY GUIDE SPORTS.
He said the players will be guided by the experience garnered while playing in division one to execute their aim.
Meanwhile unconfirmed reports indicate that the hierarchy of the club is targeting Kudjoe Fianoo to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer whiles ex-Ghana international Robert Koffie is preferred to assist Bashiru Hayford, dashing the hopes of Augustine Adotey who was tipped to occupy that post.
In a related development, Medeama SC are unsure about their home venue for the upcoming season which kick-starts early next month.
Management of the Tarkwa-based club is struggling to meet the requirements of the Premier League Board after the Dompem Park venue was ruled out.
Options available to the club are an hour-and-half drive to the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi or to nearby Prestea.
“The PLB visited our home turf at Dompem and refused to sanction the place for us and that has left with other options for us to look at,” the club's Chief Executive James Essilfie said.
“We are looking at either the Essipong stadium in Sekondi or Prestea for our home matches. The pressure from our fans to ensure we play our matches at home has been very incessant but at the moment our hands are tied.”
Medeama Sporting Club, situated at a mining town, might enjoy financial support from mining firms in the community.
Last year, the club were helped by Goldfields Limited, headline of the Ghana national team.
