NPP and its precarious posture; extremely disturbing!!

NPP and its precarious posture; extremely disturbing!!
17.04.2010 LISTEN

I'm going to make it simple here.
I believe some of you have begun feeling the same way I am feeling concerning the NPP goofs.

It is becoming worrisomely clear that NPP is really tottering.

What sort of picture is the NPP party portraying now under the new Administration? Some of us are becoming a bit concern about the way the current NPP administration is depicting precarious solutions to the difficult problems facing NPP now.

For the past few weeks, some of the pronouncements, the misjudgements, the goofs, the blunders made known to Ghanaians from NPP as a political party in opposition are raising arguments that the NPP is dangerously lacking in security or stability. I think we (NPP) are treading a precarious footing on the political ladder for our struggle to win back power from the NDC government in 2012, though Mills and his NDC government is totally disoriented with an abysmal performance.

I think these goofs are becoming enormous, despite the clear notion expressed by many in Ghana that NPP is the only party that can come back and save Ghana from its current predicaments under the President Mills administration.

Recently, the NPP National Executive has to change the date set for the selection of the Flag bearer with no tangible reason known yet. The only general understanding created from the executives was that the date set clashes with the world cup in South Africa or whatever. I believe the simple question many people will ask is; so none of the executives was able to pick up a problem with that date set for the aspirants, before it was announced to the Ghanaian populace?

Again, on 31st March, the NPP general secretary Sir John announced that NPP has set of rules and regulations banning all MPs and party officers at all levels from openly campaigning for any flag-bearer aspirant, and aimed at shaping up ethical behavior in the party appears set to fan dissent.

But today, Friday 16th April 2010, "NPP backtracks on MPs ban" according myjoyonline.com; saying the New Patriotic Party has withdrawn a directive banning its Members of Parliament from openly declaring support for any of the presidential candidates. The report says "in a surprise turn around however, the General Secretary says his directive has been misinterpreted.

According to him, MPs can openly declare support and campaign for any candidate of their choice but must do so with a lot of circumspection". Well, I guess the MPs are fully aware that they are suppose to employ decorum in all their dealings, therefore the question is, on what logic at all was that dangerous decision taken on the MPs ban and was it taken with any consultation? Knowing that, the MPs are themselves very active political elements in our democracy.

I think the current executives are doing well and will do better with time, but I think Sir John is seen to be making too much public pronouncements unilaterally and granting too many unnecessary interviews to the FM / radio stations, hence, the unavoidable goofs.

This is my opinion, what do you also think?
