Kandiga (UE), Jan. 26, GNA - Mr. Thomas Adda Dalu, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kassena-Nankana West, has given the assurance that the Assembly would support self-help projects in the area.
He said the authorities were prepared to assist communities that would initiate their own projects to complement government development efforts.
The DCE, who gave the assurance at the celebration of the "Mokeka Festival" by the chiefs and people of Kandiga, said the Assembly would repair the Kandiga-Junction-Sirigu road to facilitate economic activities in the area.
Mr. Dalu said the Assembly would also construct 35 boreholes for communities in the district, including Kandiga and distil the dam in the area to enhance agricultural activities.
He said government would implement the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority and the Northern Rural Growth Programme to improve education, health, roads, agriculture and other infrastructural development in the northern part of the country.
Mr. Dalu called on the people to unite and support government in the implementation of the projects and other poverty reduction interventions.
He also charged them to preserve their festivals and other cultural heritage.
Naba Henry Abawine Amenga-Etego, Chief of Kandiga, appealed to the people to unite irrespective of their political affiliations for the development of the area.
He called on them to contribute to the educational endowment fund that has been established to assist brilliant but needy school children to complete their education.
The Assemblyman for Atibabisi Electoral Area, Mr. Joe Awalna-Tulley Akandi advised the youth to desist from drug abuse and alcoholism.
