A former Brong Ahafo Deputy Minister, Alhaji Kwadwo Mama Adam, was killed in a motor accident on Saturday when the vehicle he was driving from Accra to Sunyani with was involved in a head-on collision with a tipper truck near Suhum. Unconfirmed reports indicated that Alhaji Adam, who was until his death the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDC), was returning from Accra after attending the inauguration of the party's Council of Elders on Friday. A female passenger, who was travelling with the Ex-Deputy Regional Minister but whose name was not immediately known sustained serious injuries and is on admission at the Suhum Government Hospital in critical condition. According to a police source, the tipper truck rammed into Alhaji Adam's vehicle when the driver, who was heading from Kibi to Accra, tried to overtake several vehicles. It said both the driver and his mate who escaped from the scene are wanted to assist in investigations. Alhaji Kwadwo Mama Adam began his political career as the Brong Ahafo Regional Co-ordinator of the CDRs and later became the Member of Parliament for Techiman South from 1992 to 2000. Meanwhile, the body has been conveyed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
