…293 being trained to vote
It might be a little over three years to the 2012 general elections; yet events leading to the Chereponi bye-election perhaps serve as dress-rehearsal of what is to be anticipated.

Preparations and plots being hatched by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the gathered have gone beyond the realm of thump power as the current dispensation demands, to an extra-ordinary political power play and thuggery to snatch the Chereponi seat by any means possible.

Intelligence report gleaned from the outfit of the State Security apparatus, shows that the outfit is preparing Commando-Trainees to move from Accra to Chereponi to vote in that Constituency's bye-election.

TODAY discovered that some 293 Commando-trainees based at Asutuare in the Eastern Region have been issued with fresh voters ID cards to be able to vote in the September 29, 2009 bye-election.

TODAY established from the Asutuare training camp that the new ID cards do not bear the original names of the current holders; but have on it names that suggest that the holders are of Northern extraction.

The group is expected to be deployed in all 59 polling stations in the Chereponi Constituency and have been issued with firm instruction to be among the first batch of voters in the early hours of the voting day.

The other of the special duties assigned the group TODAY found out, is to protection the ballot boxes that would be used for the bye-election, because as a source hinted “the NDC suspect that the NPP would be employing some macho men to destabilize the exercise”.

The bye-election had been necessitated by the sudden death of the incumbent MP, Hon. Doris Fati Seidu, then with New Patriotic Party (NPP).

A four man special task force team from the National Security Annex- Blue Gate, near the Accra Sports Stadium is coordinating the exercise. The task force visited the Commando-Trainees and those selected for the exercise at 3 am on Monday, September 7, 2009 to brief them on the exercise.

The leader of the team (name withheld) is unofficially referred to as the Deputy National Security Coordinator and his being assisted in the special operation by Emmanuel Amedeka, the Head of the Jubilee House Security and the man responsible for many threats to media personnel in recent times.

Amedeka and his team explained every detail of what the recruits selected for the Chereponi bye-election were supposed to do on the day of the election and also instructed the Trainee instructors to be extra vigilant on their boys so that they (Trainees) do not flout any rule agreed on by the parties involved in the special operation. The leadership of the Trainees is expected to have final briefing on the special operation in Accra on Saturday.

According to flawless security source, the leadership of the trainee-group was asked to move to Chereponi three clear days before the Election day in order to ensure that “their boys vote within the first thirty minutes of the opening of polling stations in the Constituency”.

“They were then asked to accompany their boys round all other polling stations to 'protect the ballot boxes,' a Security source disclosed.

Meanwhile TODAY gathered that the paper's Editor-in-Chief became the main subject of discussion after the meeting the dawn Asutuare meeting.

Amedeka whose diabolic deeds have been exposed by the paper was all but shocked to find out how the paper managed to bring to public all of his diabolical plans.

The State security personnel played all interviews that our Editor-in-Chief has had with radio stations in Accra in connection with the many revelations that the paper has published about the State security apparatus.
