Rotary Clubs inaugurate 209,000-dollar projects

Kumasi, Aug. 21, GNA – The Kumasi East Rotary Club in conjunction with is partners in Canada, has completed a number of development projects in three regions at a total cost of 209,000 dollars.

The projects, which begun four years ago in 14 communities in Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo and the Central region, comprised health centres, boreholes fitted with hand pump and sanitation facilities.

Kyerensa, Nyamiani, Bodomase, Behenase, Senfi, Gyama, Nkwabeng, Kyekyewere, Moseaso, Kwankyeabo, Akrofoa and Manso-Akropong are among the beneficiary communities.

Mr Prince Abraham Appiah-Fei, President of the Club, who inaugurated the Nyameani project in the Bosomtwe District in Ashanti, said it had been their goal to help bring down the incidence of preventable diseases in the country, hence the focus on potable water and sanitation.

Mr Appia-Fei appealed to the communities to take good care of the facilities to enable them to last.

He praised his predecessor, Mr Charles Amoako, and Mr Solomon Kyerematen, a member of the Club for initiating the project.

Rotary Clubs of Richmonhill, Cornwall Sunrise and Oakville's all in Canada supported the projects with funds.

Mr Richard Martin Manu, Assemblyman for the area, thanked the Club for the assistance and appealed to it to help to refurbish their community clinic.
