Wamfie (B/A), July 21, GNA – Twenty-six adult literacy facilitators in the
Dormaa-East District have received various awards from the Non-Formal
Division of the Ministry of Education (NFED) for hard work and meritorious
service.
They received bicycles, sewing machines and ghetto blasters as incentives
to boost their moral towards improved performance.
Mr. Isaac Kyeremeh, District Chief Executive, urged stakeholders in the
adult literacy campaign to assume a more pro-active role in their dealing with
the programme.
He advised the facilitators in particular not to limit their role only to
occasions when sponsors and supervisors come to visit classes.
“You need to approach this sacrificial assignment with commitment and the
desire to dole out your stock of knowledge”, Mr. Kyeremeh advised the
facilitators.
The Dormaa Coordinator of the programme, Kwasi Anning-Mensah,
announced that adult literacy programmes in the district were helping the
beneficiaries.
He said radio programmes were also being organised to make the
beneficiaries aware of their inherent potentials and means by which they could
be tapped for the benefit of society.
Mr. Anning-Mensah called on adults in the district to enrol in the functional
literacy classes, adding “the failure of someone to access formal education at a
tender age does not mean the person could never enjoy any form of
education”.
