Leaders give a chance to live in peace

Mohoshin Abbas
Again most nations of South Asia are in a time of turmoil. Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal is in deep crisis and Bangladesh and India are following them with many internal problems those should be addressed in proper time. Bhutan and Maldives are in a less-tension situation except preparing themselves to protect from the adverse impact of global recession.

Afghan president Hamid Karzi and Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari are now in USA and fixed for a meeting with Barrack Obama in search of peace in Taliban trodden countries.

Afghanistan is heading to a presidential election with their years long problem of conflicts and presence of foreign military led by US. Hamid Karzi has selected his running met for the next presidential election a war lord that creates a lot of criticism among the rights activists in and outside the country. Truly, the people and the social power structure of this country are the roots of problems that also inspired by outside interest-circles many times. Afghan social power structure is constructed by family and tribal hierarchy and the members of a particular clan feel that after god Chieftain is the person to be obeyed. This cultural phenomenon makes the educated chiefs to be warlords for their interests. International conspiracy and cooperation is the catalyst in the fire. Militancy in terms of religion or clan chauvinism is the liquor to make the people loyal to the chieftains. Soviet era is over but the country does not have the Peace. Rather Afghanistan is running through a path of uproar of conflict and bloodshed.

Pakistan is a country of bizarre also facing severe problem of religion based militancy and conflict on the basis of ethnicity in many cases. Anyone can disagree, but it is a hard truth that Pakistan is dominantly administered by Punjabis along with the Sinds. People from North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Baluchistan have the feelings of deprivation. On the other hand NWFP is a unit of Pakistan administration that mostly familiar with Afghan in terms of social power structure and ethnicity, which make them to be sympathized to the afghan war groups and inspired to be Taliban and of course Taliban issue is the burning phenomenon for Pakistan politics that also a potential threat to the integrity of the country. It could be said that the conflict in Pakistan also made by the political, civil and military leaders that was observed since 1947, just after the birth of the country.

Sri Lanka is another conflict trodden country in South Asia. Sinhala chauvinism makes the county a basin of blood, which is also made by the social and political leaders. Once a land of peace now full of roaring cannons and fighter planes. Civilians are the scapegoats to die and observe the bleeding hearts.

In Bangladesh, an elected government has emerged after a tow-year long extra constitutional rule. The government has faced a deep crisis in the border guards just after assuming power and the crisis is over and nicely handled so far. But threat from religion based militants and disagreements between the treasury and opposition on the issue is the major concern for the nation. It should be mentioned that without any support from the power circles no instants of conflicts and militancy observed yet. If the leaders are agreeing in solving the issues like conflict and militancy, it is very much possible to address.

India now is running through a process of parliamentary election and hope that people will mandate for a stable government in center that will be able to address the problems like Trans border terrorism, militancy, Maoist activities and of course those problems of this country are propped up by power circles, may be the sponsorship is active either, or passive.

It was observed that Nepal is heading to peace after assuming state power by Maoists through a popular election. The observation turned into a vane when power struggle push Prochanda to turn downed from premiership. The supporters of Maoist leader are now on the street. It should be remembered that Nepali Maoists came into formal political activism after a decade long guerilla warfare that caused thousands of lives. The current political crisis also has a probability to push the nation again in another conflict. Disagreements among the leaders make the people vulnerable, it must be told.

In view of the conflicting scenario in South Asian States, we, the peace loving people of the region, could urged the statesmen that dear Leaders give a chance to live in peace.
