Baffour Gyan has been ruled out of action for the rest of the season because of a knee injury.
The 28-year-old, who plays for Russian side Saturn FC, was forced to have a knee operation at the start of the season because of the setback suffered during training.
Gyan was hoping to recover from the surgery to help his club in the league this season but has now resigned to returning next season because of slow recuperation.
"I have been out of action for about six months now and with the way things are going I have to be patient,' Gyan told KickOffGhana.com. 'I think I will be ready by next season because of the healing process since the surgery has been slow.
'I think when I take my time I can return to full fitness and play better.' Gyan has not played for the Black Stars since the Africa Cup of Nations in January and his return will hand coach Milovan Rajevac a boost to his attacking options.
The forward is one of the country's prolific scorers after netting 11 times in 33 matches for the Black Stars.
