Ghana defender John Boye has finally joined French club Rennes after being recommended by his compatriot John Mensah, who left the club last month.
The 21-year-old moves on loan from local side Hearts of Lions as a replacement for Mensah, who left to join rival club Lyon.
Rennes have the option to extend the deal if Boye impresses during his one-year stay with the club.
"We are following him for months. He is a player with great athlethic capabilities, he is also fast and has a good aerial game,"a Rennes statement said.
The deal was supposed to have been completed last month but Israeli side Hapoel Petah Tikva stepped in claiming they had a deal with the player.
Hapoel Petah Tikva claim the 21-year-old signed a pre-contract and had expected him in Israel to undergo medicals and begin training.
But Boye snubbed the deal in favour of Rennes, which led to the delay in signing with the French club after impressing on trials in July.
He is expected to walk straight into the first team of Rennes as he had been training with the side already.
