A 50-year-old Assistant Director of the Energy Commission, Mr Harry Felix Kwame Adobor, has been enstooled as the new Osie of the Avatime Traditional Area under the stool name, Togbe Adja Tekpor VII.

He succeeds the late Togbe Adja Tekpor VI, who passed away and was buried in 2006 after rendering several years of illustrious service to his traditional area and the nation.

The installation, which was peaceful saw hundreds of people witnessing a rich display of the culture of the people of the Avatime Traditional Area.

In attendance were other chiefs from the Volta Region and political figures who came in their numbers to witness the installation.

There were exchanges of allegiance between the new Osie and his royal father on one hand, and the people of Osorpome and the divisional chiefs on the other.

Togbe Adja Tekpor VII was born in October 1958 to the late Martin Adobor and Esther Adjoa Adobor.

He began his elementary education at the Dodi-Mempeasem Primary School in 1964 and continued at the Bishop Hermann College (BIHECO), where he studied Economics, French and Geography.

He furthered his education at the University of Ghana and later at the Pushkin State Russian Institute, where he studied Russian.

He later taught Russian at the University of Ghana, worked as the Deputy Director of Operations at the National Mobilisation Headquarters in Accra and also worked as a Chief Director with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

Togbe Adja Tekpor VII studied Public Reforms in the United Kingdom and later took up an appointment with the Division of Administration of the Ministry of Public Reforms.

He is married to Mrs Velmont Feyi Adobor, a Sierra Leonean, and they have four children.

In an address, Togbe Adza Tam VI, Paramount Chief of Etordome Traditional Area, who stood in for Togbega Gabusu VI, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, praised the people of the area for the peaceful manner in which they had selected and installed their chief.
