The Upper West Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress has congratulated Prof. Kassim Kasanga on his nomination as Minister of Lands and Forestry.
They have also expressed satisfaction about President Kufuor's nomination of an "Upper Westerner'' into the cabinet.
In a statement signed by Mr Issahaque Adams, Regional Organiser, the NDC said the nomination of Prof Kasanga has now placed the region at the same level with other regions represented at the cabinet level.
It recalled their earlier decision to fight until the region benefited from the appointment of a cabinet minister adding, ''we are happy today that our position has been vindicated by the nomination of Prof. Kassim Kasanga to the Lands and Forestry Ministry.''
The statement said there are competent and good materials from the region that can serve in the current government and hoped that the nomination of Prof. Kansaga would open the way for more nominations.
