An accused person, Kojo Atta, who on Tuesday jumped in an escape bid from the second floor of the circuit court where he was to stand trial for robbery on Friday told the court that poor conditions at the prisons was too much for him to bear.
He had been put before the court charged with escaping from lawful custody and when his pleas was taken he pleaded guilty with the explanation that conditions in the prisons were so bad that his penis was getting rotten and since he was innocent he could not bear the thought of having to be taken back there.
Mr Richard Asiedu-Badu, the presiding judge, shared his concerns but said his alleged innocence did not give him the ticket to escape from the law and promised to convey his message to the Interior Minister for the prisons to be reformed.
He sentenced Atta to a three-month jail term.
Atta, a mechanic, robbed two ladies of their mobile phones after he had threatened them with a knife.

I hope the three months is not the punishment for the armed robbery. Threatening the ladies with knife and taking their mobile phones is armed robbery. Such people should not be allowed to move around freely. I suspect he can do worse things in th...
