FIFA Blocks Saddik’s Move To Spain

Former Black Starlets striker, Sadick Adams' career is still in the quagmire as he waits for FIFA's green light to resume his career.

But it appears the former Ashgold striker will know his fate at the end of this month when FIFA is expected to give its ruling on the matter.

Adams move to Spanish side, Athletico Madrid, has been blocked by the World's football governing body following a protest by the Tunisian Football Federation claiming that the player has signed a three-year contract with Etoile du Sportive Sahel and his flirtations with the spanish club was illegal.

The Tunisians sought FIFA's intervention to nullify the contract and then compel the player to return to Etoile.

But in a swift reaction, Mr Jones Alhassan-Abu, the player's manager filed a defence to FIFA quoting article 19 of the FIFA rules and arguing that the player at the time of signing the deal with the Tunisians who should have sought the consent of his parents before consumation of the deal as stipulated by the regulations.

Besides, there was no evidence that at the time the deal was signed any of the player's relations was relocating to Tunis as stipulated by the law.

Consequently, FIFA which initially nullified the spanish deal has now referred the matter for arbitration.

According to Alhassan-Abu, the verdict will be made known to both parties 60 days after filing of the defence and expressed optimism that his ward would be cleared by FIFA to enable him to pursue his dream career with the top spanish side.

Following his performance in the last Africa U-17 in Togo Etoile du Sahel offered him a deal and the player signed a three-year contract to play at the youth side of the team.

Sadick was expected to join the Tunisians after the last U-17 World Cup. But the player was lured to Spain by some agents who followed the players exploits in South Korea during the World Cup.

The player late last year signed a pre-contract with Real Madrid to play in the youth team and was expected to sign a permanent contract in January but the process has been stalled by the FIFA intervention.
