Construction of the concourse connecting Terminals 2 and 3 at the Accra International Airport has reached 20 per cent completion, Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu has announced.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, November 7, Mr Kwakye Ofosu highlighted progress on the project, for which President John Dramani Mahama cut the sod a few months ago.
“The Concourse linking Terminals 2 and 3 at the Accra International Airport that President Mahama cut sod for a few months ago? It is already at 20% completion,” he wrote.
The project forms part of the government's broader efforts to upgrade airport infrastructure, ease congestion and improve passenger movement at the country's main international airport.
When completed, the facility is expected to feature five passenger boarding bridges, modern waiting and boarding areas, premium and VIP lounges, as well as retail and commercial facilities.
It is also expected to strengthen connectivity between the two terminals, shorten passenger transit times and improve aircraft turnaround times.
The development is intended to complement other airport expansion initiatives aimed at increasing capacity and enhancing the travel experience for passengers using the facility.
