Museum Elmina, a newly developed digital platform designed to document the history, culture, customs and heritage of Elmina, has held a pre-launch preview at Hollywood Preparatory School in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality.

The event, held on Friday, November 6, 2026, brought the initiative to students and provided an opportunity to explore the historical and cultural stories of the Elmina Traditional Area ahead of the platform's official activation on November 12, 2026.

Speaking at the gathering, the founder of Museum Elmina, Mr Michael Kunke, said the pre-launch engagement was intended to raise awareness about the initiative, obtain public feedback and encourage discussions on the town's history and cultural identity.

He explained that the website would be regularly updated to ensure that important historical and cultural information was documented and made accessible to a wider audience.

Mr Kunke urged residents and the general public to support the initiative and use the platform as a learning resource to deepen their understanding of Elmina's history and heritage.

Also addressing the gathering, Nana Amissah-Mensah Dadziebo, Nguadohen of Elmina and proprietor of Hollywood Preparatory School, encouraged students in the traditional area to embrace the platform and make it part of their learning resources.

He emphasised that appreciating one's cultural heritage should go beyond acquiring knowledge, urging the students to understand, practise and uphold the customs and traditions of Elmina in their everyday lives.

The event attracted several distinguished guests, including David Duron, Nana Amissah-Mensah Dadziebo, Uncle Ebow, Gladys Cassandra Bugashie and Eunice Johnson.

Museum Elmina is expected to serve as a digital repository of the town's historical accounts, cultural practices, customs and traditions, offering residents, students, researchers and people around the world an opportunity to explore its rich heritage.

The platform, which is scheduled to go live on November 12, 2026, aims to safeguard Elmina's historical identity and ensure that its stories remain accessible to present and future generations.
