The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that all passengers travelling to Ghana will be required to complete a mandatory Health Declaration Form from Thursday, November 12, 2026.
In a statement issued on Saturday, November 7, the Service directed travellers to fill out and submit the online form in their respective countries of departure before beginning their journeys to Ghana.
The directive forms part of intensified public health surveillance measures following the outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in parts of Africa.
Ghana has stepped up its preparedness efforts, including enhanced health screening at international airports and a 21-day monitoring period for travellers arriving from countries with active transmission, to minimise the risk of importing and spreading the disease.
According to the GHS, the new requirement is intended to strengthen the country's disease surveillance and emergency response systems, improve the identification and monitoring of potential health threats, and protect the health of residents and visitors.
“In line with this directive, all passengers travelling to Ghana will be required to complete the Health Declaration Form before embarking on their journey to Ghana,” the statement said.
The online form can be accessed through the GHS electronic health declaration portal at https://ehds.ghs.gov.gh/declaration.
The Service has urged prospective travellers to complete the form before departure to avoid delays and ensure a smooth entry process.
It has also called on airlines, travel agencies and other relevant stakeholders to inform passengers about the new requirement and ensure they comply before travelling to Ghana.
