Former Member of Parliament for Lawra, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has described New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as a problem solver, citing his record as Vice-President to make a case for his 2028 presidential ambition.
Abayifaa Karbo said several initiatives introduced under the Akufo-Addo-led administration, particularly in digitalisation, healthcare and economic management, demonstrated Dr Bawumia's contribution to Ghana's development.
He listed 10 major initiatives, including the Ghana Card, the One Constituency, One Ambulance initiative, the Gold for Reserves programme and the Agenda 111 hospital project.
In a social media post on Tuesday, November 3, the NPP stalwart argued that these initiatives, among others, makes Dr Bawumia one of the most impactful Vice-Presidents in Ghana's history.
“Here are some of the key achievements of this man as the former Vice-President of Ghana, which makes him the most impactful Vice-President the country has ever had,” he wrote.
Other initiatives highlighted by the former Lawra MP include the digitalisation of passport offices, the Zipline medical drone delivery service, the digitalisation of the Births and Deaths Registry, the paperless port system and the digitisation of medical records and networking of hospitals.
He also mentioned the Sinohydro Barter Agreement, which was introduced under the previous administration to support infrastructure development.
“Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a problem solver and all his over 33 key achievements buttress this point,” he added.
Dr Bawumia, who served as Vice-President from January 2017 to January 2025, is the NPP's flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
