The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North and Deputy Minister for Tourism, Hon. Yussif Jajah, has donated GH¢250,000 to provide financial assistance to 72 tertiary students in his constituency.
Under the scholarship initiative, each beneficiary is expected to receive at least GH¢3,000 to help meet the cost of their education.
The MP said the intervention was intended to ease the financial pressure on students and their families and prevent financial difficulties from disrupting their academic progress.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Hon. Jajah urged them to use the support responsibly and remain focused on their studies to make their families proud.
"Tertiary education isn't easy, and it is not a place to do things that will disappoint your parents. We urge you to make them proud through your actions and choices and use this opportunity to build a better future.
"Whenever school reopens, students are happy, but for parents, it comes with worry because of the cost. That is why it is important for us to step in and support them. We are meeting parents halfway, and we expect you to make good use of this opportunity," he said.
Some parents expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a remarkable intervention that would provide significant relief to families struggling to finance their children's education.
They also prayed for God's blessings upon the MP and encouraged him to sustain the initiative to support more students.
The donation has been welcomed as a contribution towards promoting access to tertiary education, youth empowerment and community development in the Ayawaso North Constituency.
