The National Ambulance Service (NAS) is seeking stronger collaboration with local authorities in the Oti Region to address operational challenges and expand access to emergency medical care.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Service, Dr (Med) George Kojo Owusu, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jasikan, Parke-Davis Magyigbe, on Wednesday, where he appealed for the Assembly’s support in securing suitable office accommodation for the Jasikan Ambulance Station.
Dr Owusu said providing an appropriate working space for the station would improve its operational environment and strengthen its capacity to respond effectively to emergency calls within the municipality.
The engagement also allowed NAS leadership and the Municipal Assembly to discuss ways to address the station’s operational needs and deepen cooperation to improve emergency healthcare delivery.
As part of efforts to extend the Service’s reach, Dr Owusu highlighted plans to increase emergency medical service coverage across the Oti Region through the establishment of additional ambulance stations and the deployment of more ambulances.
He emphasised the importance of working closely with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to address local infrastructure and operational challenges that could affect the delivery of timely emergency care.
The visit forms part of the National Ambulance Service’s broader engagement with local authorities to build stronger partnerships and strengthen emergency medical response systems across the country.
