The government is expected to present the 2027 Budget to Parliament on November 12, with a renewed emphasis on transforming economic stability into increased productivity, competitiveness and technology-driven growth.

The budget is expected to outline the next phase of the government’s economic agenda, focusing on expanding economic opportunities, creating jobs and improving living standards.

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem said the government’s priority was to ensure that the gains made in stabilising the economy translated into tangible benefits for Ghanaians.

Speaking at the launch of the budget in Accra, Mr Ampem stressed the need to move beyond macroeconomic recovery towards policies that stimulate production and generate employment.

“Stability is the foundation. Productivity is the engine. Jobs and prosperity must be the destination,” he said.

He disclosed that Ghana’s economy expanded by 6% in 2025 and recorded growth of 6.2% in the first half of 2026. Inflation, he added, fell from 23.8% in December 2024 to 5.2% in September 2026.

According to the Deputy Finance Minister, the next phase of the government’s economic programme would prioritise adding value to locally available resources, supporting businesses and creating more opportunities for young people.

He argued that Ghana needed to reduce its dependence on exporting raw materials by building stronger domestic production capacity and developing goods and services with higher value.

“We must move from exporting raw materials to exporting value and from producing job seekers to nurturing innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators,” he said.
