Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has held discussions with the Secretary-General of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), Dr Mark Speich, on the party’s reorganisation and Ghana’s political and economic future.
The meeting took place at the KAS Ghana office in Accra on Thursday, October 29.
In a social media post after the meeting, Dr Bawumia said he had reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding the party and shared updates on two initiatives aimed at strengthening its leadership and policy development.
“I reaffirmed our unwavering commitment to rebuilding the NPP. For the past two years we have been working diligently to strengthen our party structures and position the NPP to respond effectively to the needs and aspirations of the Ghanaian people,” he wrote.
The former Vice President highlighted the Patriotic Institute and the NPP Policy Unit as key components of his vision for the party.
According to him, the initiatives are intended to nurture the next generation of political leaders, create opportunities for young people to serve and ensure that the party’s policies are evidence-based, financially feasible and practical to implement.
Dr Bawumia said his broader goal was to build a more inclusive, ideas-driven and policy-focused NPP capable of delivering sustainable development.
He also expressed appreciation to KAS for its longstanding partnership with the party and indicated his readiness to strengthen the cooperation.
“Our goal is to build a stronger, more inclusive, ideas-driven and policy-focused NPP, capable of delivering meaningful and sustainable development for Ghana,” he stated.
