A fire outbreak has razed a seven-bedroom house and destroyed household appliances and other belongings at Tanoso in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 2pm on Wednesday, leaving the occupants counting their losses as they appealed for assistance from the government.
Although the cause of the fire had not been established at the time of reporting, some eyewitnesses suspected a gas explosion.
Residents said they heard a loud blast from the house shortly before flames engulfed the building.
Several people in the densely populated community reportedly attempted to put out the fire but were unable to contain it, prompting them to contact the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for assistance.
Firefighters subsequently arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze.
When the paper visited the area on Wednesday evening, the affected occupants were assessing the damage and the loss of their belongings. They appealed to the government for support to help them recover from the incident.
Meanwhile, officers of the Ghana National Fire Service were investigating the cause of the fire.
