The newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Pusiga Constituency, Alhaji Lukman Sofo, has undertaken an emergency reshaping of the deteriorated Aramongbana-Pusiga stretch of the Bawku-Pusiga road, just 3 days after his election.

The exercise, reportedly financed with more than GH¢200,000 from his personal funds, is expected to ease transportation difficulties for residents and motorists who have struggled with the poor condition of the road for years.

The stretch had become a major concern for commuters, with drivers facing frequent vehicle breakdowns and passengers enduring uncomfortable journeys because of its deteriorated state.

Speaking to the media, Alhaji Sofo said the intervention was the fulfilment of a campaign promise he made to the people of Pusiga.

"During my campaign, I promised the good people of Pusiga that when you give me the nod, I will gravel this road to make it motorable. Today I have done exactly that," he said.

"I want to do the little things we can do by ourselves while we wait for government. I am Chairman for all the people of Pusiga, and this road will benefit everyone," he added.

The chairman-elect also pledged to work with the Pusiga Member of Parliament, Hajia Laadi Ayii Ayamba, and the District Chief Executive, Aguuri Haruna Abdul-Rahim, to accelerate development in the constituency.

His intervention has attracted commendation from some party members, who say the move demonstrates his commitment to addressing local concerns.

Anateem Abdul Rauf said the chairman-elect was positioning the party to become more attractive to constituents through practical interventions such as the road reshaping exercise.

The Constituency Communications Officer, Akugri Rasheed, also welcomed the development and challenged NPP members who previously created TikTok content highlighting the poor state of the road to produce new videos showcasing the improvement.

Some residents have described the intervention as a positive start to Alhaji Sofo’s leadership, expressing hope that it will bring lasting relief to commuters and contribute to development in the constituency.

Alhamdulillah, those are the kind of leaders we long yearned for,he realizes that promises to the people are equally promises to the Lord and he will surely stand to account for his actions one day before his lord. Judgement awaits all leaders who leads the people otherwise
