MobileMoney Fintech Limited has engaged mobile money (MoMo) agents, business partners and other stakeholders in Kumasi to address operational challenges, strengthen partnerships and improve the security and delivery of digital financial services.
The forum, held on Wednesday, provided an opportunity for the company to brief agents on developments in the mobile money industry, introduce updates on products and services, and discuss measures to protect agents and subscribers against fraud.
During a presentation, David Nana Addai, Mobile Money Channel and Development Manager for the Northern Sector, addressed several operational issues, including Know Your Customer (KYC) updates, the revised cash-out process and the need to keep agents’ and merchants’ databases up to date.
He also highlighted more than 45 products and services introduced by MobileMoney Fintech Limited since the commencement of its operations.
Participants were further informed about support packages available to agents, including insurance and other services intended to improve their business operations.
MoMo agents play critical role in service delivery — Addai
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the forum, Mr Addai said direct engagement with agents was essential because they served as the company’s representatives in communities across the country.
He explained that the meetings allowed the company to hear agents’ concerns, identify practical solutions to operational difficulties and keep them informed about changes within the industry.
According to him, the engagement was also aimed at deepening the relationship between the company and its agents while ensuring they understood updated operational procedures and the services available to them.
Mr Addai emphasised that agents remained central to the delivery of mobile money services, making regular education and stakeholder engagement important to improving customer experience.
MobileMoney strengthens measures against fraud
Addressing concerns about mobile money fraud, Mr Addai said the company had introduced several security measures on its platform to protect agents and subscribers from fraudulent activities.
He disclosed that MobileMoney Fintech Limited was also working more closely with state security agencies to intensify efforts to combat mobile money-related crimes.
According to him, the collaboration had contributed to the arrest of a number of suspected fraudsters, who are currently facing prosecution.
Mr Addai said the company’s interventions went beyond blocking telephone numbers linked to fraudulent activities, adding that it had also begun blocking devices used by perpetrators to commit such offences.
He explained that the measures were intended to make mobile money fraud more difficult to carry out and less attractive to potential offenders.
The interventions, he said, formed part of the company’s broader commitment to protecting agents and subscribers who rely on mobile money for their daily financial transactions.
Agents and subscribers cautioned against sharing PINs
Despite the enhanced security measures, Mr Addai urged agents and subscribers to protect their personal identification numbers (PINs) and avoid disclosing them to other people.
He warned that sharing confidential security information could expose accounts to fraud and compromise users’ funds.
He encouraged customers and agents to remain vigilant and take responsibility for securing their accounts under all circumstances.
Mr Addai stressed that although the company was strengthening its security systems and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, the vigilance and cooperation of users remained essential in preventing fraud.
The Kumasi forum forms part of MobileMoney Fintech Limited’s ongoing stakeholder engagement aimed at improving operational efficiency, deepening partnerships and strengthening the security and reliability of mobile money services.
Through such engagements, the company seeks to address agents’ concerns, keep them informed about industry developments and support the growth of digital financial services in Ghana.
