Journalist Ewura Adams Karim has launched his campaign to become Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), promising to build a faster communication system capable of responding to opposition claims within hours.

Mr Karim, who has picked nomination forms but is yet to formally file them, launched his campaign at the Mikaddo Conference Centre in Accra on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

He said the NDC needed a communications structure that could respond quickly to political developments while relying on facts and evidence rather than insults.

According to him, the party must be able to provide timely answers to claims it considers false or misleading and communicate the government’s work more effectively to the public.

“The NDC does not have to go looking for three different people. The NDC can find all of that in Ewura Adams Karim,” he said.

Karim Outlines Five-Point Communication Plan

Mr Karim outlined a five-point plan centred on strengthening the party’s rapid-response system, training communicators across the regions and constituencies, giving grassroots members a stronger voice, expanding the party’s digital and youth presence, and promoting unity.

He said trained communicators should be positioned across the country to respond to political developments quickly and ensure that the party’s position reaches communities beyond the national media space.

He also called for greater attention to young people and digital platforms, arguing that the party’s communication strategy must evolve to reach audiences increasingly consuming political information online.

Mr Karim said the NDC could defend its record and counter opposition claims without resorting to personal attacks.

He said communication should instead be grounded in facts, evidence and timely responses.

Wants Grassroots At Centre Of Communication

Mr Karim also said the party’s communication strategy should better reflect the concerns of its grassroots supporters.

He said members who worked to secure the NDC’s electoral victory needed to remain part of the conversation about the government’s work and the party’s direction.

He also called for clearer communication of government policies and achievements to Ghanaians who may not necessarily be party members but are interested in the country’s development.

Points To Journalism And Community Work

Mr Karim cited his experience in journalism, public speaking, student leadership and community development as part of his preparation for the position.

He currently works with WoezorTV and previously worked with Class FM, where he said he was named Presenter of the Year in 2021.

His leadership experience includes serving as Ashanti Regional SRC Vice-President and Speaker of the University of Ghana SRC General Assembly. He also cited participation in national debate competitions and international leadership programmes, including the Hult Prize regional finals in Dubai in 2017 and Boston in 2019.

Beyond journalism, Mr Karim highlighted his work as co-founder and Executive Director of the Maltiti Foundation.

He said the organisation had trained women in agriculture, created hundreds of jobs and provided free healthcare to more than 8,000 people across the Northern, Savannah and Oti regions.

He also said the foundation had worked with the Accra Food Bank to provide food to more than 2,000 families, supported girls with vocational skills in Saboba and provided reproductive health education for kayayei women and girls.

Mr Karim further cited his participation in programmes including the Obama Africa Leaders initiative, Mandela Washington Fellowship and WEXFO Young Experts programme.

Traces Political Roots To NDC Family
Mr Karim said his political upbringing was shaped by his family’s association with the NDC.

He said his mother was involved in the 31st December Women’s Movement, while his father, Alhaji Seidu Karim, served in local government as an assembly member, presiding member, district secretary and district chief executive.

He said those experiences influenced his understanding of politics as a form of public service and strengthened his belief in giving communities a voice.

Appeals For Delegate Support
Mr Karim appealed to NDC delegates to support his bid, promising to listen, work and serve if elected.

He also called on party elders and founding members to provide guidance while urging young people, women, persons with disabilities and members across the country to support his campaign.

He said his broader objective was to help bridge the party’s different groups and establish a communication structure capable of reaching both committed NDC supporters and Ghanaians outside the party.

The NDC is scheduled to elect its next Deputy National Communications Officer on December 19, 2026.

Mr Karim has picked nomination forms and launched his campaign but is yet to formally file his nomination.
