The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has assured motorists awaiting their driver’s licences that all eligible applicants among the 444,000 licences already printed will receive them by the end of November 2026.
The Authority’s Chief Executive Officer, Julius Neequaye Kotey, said measures were being taken to ensure that applicants who had completed the required registration procedures received their licences within the stipulated period.
Speaking to Citi News after the commissioning of the DVLA’s second ultra centre in Kasoa and a new office in Bawjiase, Mr Kotey acknowledged growing frustration among motorists over the delays.
He noted that several affected applicants had taken to social media to complain about not receiving their licences despite completing the necessary processes.
The delays, he added, had also created challenges for some motorists who continued to face questions from the Ghana Police Service when they were unable to produce their licences on the road.
“I can assure them that by the end of next month, every Ghanaian who has truly gone through the process to register with DVLA will have his or her licence,” he said.
The DVLA has been working to clear a backlog of driver’s licence applications, with more than 440,000 licences printed by the end of 2025. The backlog reportedly included applications dating as far back as 2023.
