Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei warned that any attempt to remove Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader in Parliament will incur the wrath of Ghanaians.
According to the Asokwa MP, the Leader of the Minority Caucus has shown the courage, wisdom, and intelligence required to lead the opposition MPs, arguing that his leadership has strengthened the caucus and enhanced the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) appeal.
Speaking on Accra-based AsaasePa 107.3, she said she had neither heard nor seen any move to remove Afenyo-Markin but cautioned against any such attempt.
“I haven’t heard nor seen it. But any attempt to remove Afenyo-Markin will incur the wrath of Ghanaians. Because he is a man of wisdom, courage and has intelligence to steer the affairs of the caucus and this is shaping us and by extension made the NPP attractive,” she told host Bonohene Baffour Awuah.
She described the Minority Leader as a leader who had earned the affection of many Ghanaians, particularly NPP supporters, through his leadership and commitment to the caucus.
Appiagyei also disclosed that Afenyo-Markin had used his personal resources to organise training sessions for some caucus members to improve their performance in Parliament.
“He came in with courage and honesty, and he is very intelligent, and that is why he has succeeded in Parliament. What I want to tell you is that he is loved by Ghanaians, especially the NPP. He has been able to use his own resources to train us so we can deliver in the House, and this is not the first time; it has occurred several times… And that is the man I am talking about,” she added.
