Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament John Setor Dumelo has admitted that balancing his parliamentary duties with his role as Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture has been challenging.
However, the lawmaker has assured that he remains committed to making his constituency one of the best in the country.
He said the dual responsibilities require extensive travel across the country to address issues affecting farmers, alongside efforts to respond to the needs of constituents.
Speaking to the media in Accra on Wednesday, October 28, Dumelo said he has been making efforts to visit households in the constituency to understand their concerns and find solutions to their problems.
“It's been tough because managing the role as deputy minister, moving across the country, making sure that farmers are also well-to-do, has been tough, but all in all, I think I'm managing my time well,” he said.
The MP noted that he had been given a four-year mandate by the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon and was determined to make meaningful progress before the end of his tenure.
Dumelo, who is approaching the second year of his mandate, said improving conditions in the constituency would require time, hard work and sustained engagement with residents.
“Rest assured, Ayawaso West would definitely become one of the best constituencies in this country. They've given me a four-year mandate. It's almost been two years,” he added.
He also indicated that his approach involves visiting households to identify their challenges and determine how best to address them, while continuing to discharge his responsibilities at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
