The Media Coalition Against Open Defecation (M-CODe), through the empowerment of World Vision Ghana, would provide strategic and targeted communication platform for the ‘MOLE XXXVII’ Conference scheduled for November 1st to 6th at Aqua Safari, Ada, Greater Accra Region.
A statement signed by Mr. Francis Ameyibor, M-CODe National Convenor, commended World Vision Ghana for the empowerment of M-CODe to provide the strategic and targeted communication for the conference.
The general theme for the 6-day conference is “Accelerating Climate‑Resilient WASH Service Delivery for Last‑Mile Communities: Options, Strategies and Actions.”
While the sub‑themes will focus on WASH as a Political Priority – Leadership, governance, accountability; Sustainable and Innovative Financing – Reaching last‑mile communities; Inclusive Service Delivery Options & Innovations – For last‑mile communities; and Climate‑Resilient WASH – In institutions and public spaces.
The annual MOLE Conference, organised by the Ghana Coalition of Non-Governmental Organisations in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), would also serve as a platform for parallel sessions, poster presentations, and side events, as well as exhibition spaces for WASH service providers and innovators.
Mr Ameyibor explained that the M-CODe/WVG strategic and targeted Communication Platform would enhance the visibility of the conference, disseminate consistent news publications, conduct interviews and serve as a major information transmission network for the conference.
World Vision Ghana is also sponsoring the 2026/27 Child Sanitation Diplomat, Nabeeha Sulemana Atia; the Ghana WASH Journalists Network (GWJN) and Alliance for WASH Advocacy (A4WA) to participate in the conference.
World Vision Ghana and partners have also provided sponsorship for the 2026 edition of the Mole conference.
Meanwhile Dr. Beata Awinpoka Akanyani, CONIWAS Chairperson, explained that as Ghana's WASH sector grapples with reduced donor funding and increasing climate stress, the 2026 Mole Conference is expected to be a defining platform.
She said the Mole conference is intended to create a common space where policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and civil society gather to give accounts of the state of the WASH sector, promote accountability, and forge sustainable solutions ahead of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals deadline.
Organised annually since 1989 by the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), the Mole Conference has evolved from a modest NGO dialogue into Ghana's leading WASH policy and learning platform.
Last year's Mole 36 edition was held under the theme "Advancing Innovation, Partnerships, and Evidence for a Harmonized and Regulated WASH Sector" and highlighted that rapid urbanization, climate impacts, and infrastructure gaps remain pressing challenges.
The 2026 theme directly responds to Ghana's most urgent WASH challenge: ensuring that communities most vulnerable to droughts, floods, and shifting rainfall patterns are not left behind.
The discussions are expected to centre on decentralized financing, solar-powered water systems, community-led management, and aligning WASH investments with Ghana's National Adaptation Plans and Nationally Determined Contributions.
