Former Tempane Member of Parliament, Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of sidelining the Upper East Region despite winning all 15 parliamentary seats in the region in the 2024 general elections.
Mr Kpemka, a former Deputy Attorney-General, says the region continues to face significant development challenges, particularly poor road networks, inadequate health facilities and gaps in educational infrastructure.
He has expressed concern over the region’s exclusion from the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme, arguing that urgent attention is needed to address its development deficits.
According to him, the NDC’s overwhelming victory in the region should translate into meaningful development projects to improve the living conditions of residents.
Mr Kpemka argues that the region continues to struggle with poor road infrastructure, which affects transportation, economic activities and access to essential services in several communities.
He believes the government must prioritise the region’s infrastructure needs and ensure that development projects are distributed equitably across the country.
The concerns come amid calls for increased investment in road infrastructure and other essential services to accelerate development in the Upper East Region.
The government is yet to respond to Mr Kpemka’s specific concerns over the region’s alleged exclusion from the Big Push programme.
