The government plans to raise GH¢15.38 billion from the domestic market in the fourth quarter of 2026 to meet its financing needs and support public debt management operations.
The borrowing programme will involve regular Treasury bill auctions, the issuance of medium and long-term debt securities, and a planned buyback of 2027 bonds issued under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).
The plan is outlined in an issuance calendar released by the Bank of Ghana to guide investors and other participants in the domestic financial market.
Under the calendar, the government will hold weekly auctions of 91-day, 182-day and 364-day Treasury bills, alongside the issuance of medium and long-term securities to meet its domestic financing requirements during the final three months of the year.
The government also intends to undertake liability management operations through the planned buyback of 2027 bonds issued under the DDEP.
The exercise will be supported by the full operationalisation of the sinking fund, which is intended to facilitate the redemption and management of public debt obligations.
The Bank of Ghana's issuance calendar is expected to provide investors with greater clarity on upcoming government borrowing activities, helping them plan their investments and make informed decisions.
The publication of regular issuance calendars forms part of Ghana's domestic debt management strategy, aimed at improving transparency and predictability in government borrowing while promoting orderly operations in the domestic capital market.
