The Founder and Leader of the Mandate of Christ Chapel, Apostle Kwame Adom Asempah, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the government’s suspension of the ban on preaching and hawking in commercial vehicles.

The government recently halted the implementation of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), which prohibits preaching and hawking in public or commercial vehicles while they are in motion. The regulation prescribes fines ranging from 10 to 50 penalty units (GH¢120–GH¢600), imprisonment of up to eight months, or both.

In an interview with Ghanaian‑based South African journalist Elvis Anokye, popularly known as Kwaku Anane Junior, on Elvis Anokye TV, Apostle Asempah said he is deeply disappointed in the government’s decision.

“I am highly disappointed in the President because the implementation of the ban would help the country and Christianity. In Ghana, Christianity is 71.3% against other religions, so if the nation regresses, who should be blamed? It is good to preach on buses, but it seems like there is no scrutiny in Christianity,” he said.

According to him, repentance does not depend on how long the gospel is preached.

“I am an Apostle, but the government should implement it. If someone repents from his or her sins, just five preachings can make an impact,” he stated.

Apostle Asempah further stressed that enforcing L.I. 2519 is necessary so that pastors and evangelists who are not gainfully employed can find work to support their ministries.
