Theovision International has extended free healthcare services to deprived communities in the Anyinofi and Watoro areas of the Ashanti and Bono East Regions, as well as officers and inmates of the Ejura Prison.
The weeklong medical outreach saw approximately 2,500 residents screened and treated for various health conditions. A total of 401 residents, predominantly women and children, also registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) or renewed their existing memberships.
The annual initiative forms part of Theovision International’s commitment to demonstrating Christian love through healthcare delivery, counselling and spiritual support for underserved communities across Ghana.
Health screenings conducted during the exercise identified rheumatism and joint pains, malaria, upper respiratory tract infections, gastritis, skin diseases, conjunctivitis, hypertension, peptic ulcers, cataracts and otitis media among the leading health conditions in the communities.
Other conditions recorded included diabetes, typhoid, insomnia and arthritis.
The District Director of Health at Atebubu, Mr. Kwadwo Osei Sarfo, commended the organisation for the outreach, describing it as a valuable contribution to healthcare delivery in the area.
"On behalf of management of the Ghana Health Service, I would want express our heartfelt appreciation to Theovision International for this kind gesture, our health is what keeps us going and I must say all our people who turned up in their numbers for the health screening are satisfied. The data represent the prevalent health conditions of our people in the area and I must say it would serve as a guide for intervention programs in the district as we are going to heavily rely on this data in the coming days to do our allocations and interventions to enhance good quality health care delivery for all," he stated.
The President of Theovision International, Mr. Theodore Philip Asare, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to rural communities to help residents realise their God-given potential.
"At Theovision International bringing hope to the hopeless, supporting especially all and the vulnerable is key and we are always delighted to contribute our quota to the society, this is not the first time we have had a health outreach program and this won't be our last because we are dedicated to ensuring that all people receive the very best when it comes to health and wellness. We want to thank all beneficiaries for showing up in their numbers, also our staff, partners, volunteers and other stakeholders who made this weeklong health screening a success," he stated.
Theovision International is a Christian non-profit organisation dedicated to recording the Bible in audio formats to enable people to hear the word of God in their mother tongues.
The organisation has recorded the Bible in more than 500 languages across Africa.
