Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has stated that government will continue to invest in teacher training to equip educators with the skills needed to prepare students for the changing job market.
She said the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and changes in the labour market require an education system that can adapt to emerging demands.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made the remarks at the 2026 Ghana Teacher Prize Grand Durbar held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Monday, October 5.
“Artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and changes in the labour market are reshaping how we live and work, and our education system must remain adaptive,” she said.
She said government would therefore strengthen teacher education, in-service training and access to digital resources to ensure educators remain equipped to meet the changing needs of learners.
According to the Vice President, investments in education can only achieve their intended impact when teachers are adequately equipped to translate them into meaningful learning experiences in the classroom.
“We will therefore continue to invest in teacher education, in-service training, and digital resources, so that our teachers are equipped to prepare young people for the opportunities and demands of a changing world,” she added.
