Parliament has clarified that a notice asking National Service Personnel to seek reposting does not amount to a freeze on national service placements at the institution.
The clarification follows public reactions on social media to a notice displayed on Parliament’s notice board which read, “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting.”
Parliament said the notice was a routine administrative message and was issued because it had received more personnel than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year.
“The notice has been misconstrued. It was not a policy statement, a freeze on national service placements, or a reflection of any change in Parliament's support for the National Service Scheme,” Parliament said in a statement issued on Monday, October 5, and signed by David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations.
It explained that the notice was specifically directed at prospective personnel who had reported to Parliament and were being advised to seek reposting to other institutions due to limited capacity.
Parliament said it remains committed to the National Service Scheme and continues to value the contribution of service personnel to its operations.
“Parliament remains committed to the National Service Scheme and values the contribution of service personnel to its work. It regrets any confusion or inconvenience the wording of the notice may have caused,” the statement added.
