Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Lawyer for Salomey Awity Baffoe, has reaffirmed his commitment to defending his client despite his detention by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Speaking to the media after he was granted bail on October 3, Baffour Awuah said the development would not deter him from pursuing Ms Baffoe's case or advocating for her rights throughout the legal process.
He described Ms Baffoe as an innocent mother of three and maintained that he would resume from where he stopped and remain resolute in representing her before the court.
“I'm going to be very resolute. I'll continue with what I've been doing, and this is not going to deter me,” he said.
Baffour Awuah also raised concerns about what he termed the denial of legal representation to some women exercising their right to free speech, arguing that access to legal counsel was essential to ensuring fairness in criminal proceedings.
His comments follow the High Court in Accra's dismissal of Ms Baffoe's bail application in a case involving an allegation of abetment of crime linked to content attributed to the “Ghana Jollof” social media account.
Before his detention by EOCO over an alleged investigation into financial irregularities at SIC Savings and Loans, Baffour Awuah had been actively representing Ms Baffoe in the case.
Despite his recent detention, the lawyer has pledged to continue representing his client and advocating for her rights as the case proceeds before the court.
