The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, has called for unity among members as the party seeks to rebuild its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Chairman Odeneho said the NPP must use its National Delegates Conference to put aside individual interests and focus on strengthening the party.
Speaking at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, during the party’s National Delegates Conference and national officers’ elections, he said the NPP’s position in opposition should motivate members to work together to rebuild its fortunes.
He stressed that the party belonged to all its members and cautioned against allowing individual interests to undermine its collective objectives.
“Let us use this conference to put aside our personal differences, combine our strength and work together to rebuild the party. Ladies and gentlemen, the NPP party belongs to all of us. It is our party. It does not belong to any single person,” he said.
Chairman Odeneho acknowledged the NPP’s current position in opposition, describing it as an unpleasant situation for the party.
“Our great party is not in the best position now. The party is in opposition, a very unpleasant place,” he said.
He said the NPP’s place was in government and urged members to remain united as the party worked to overcome its current challenges.
“Our place is in government, not opposition. Our party faces a challenge; therefore, we need to stay united,” he said.
“With determination to build a stronger and better future, as we do this, we must stay focused to deal with our challenge. In times like this, unity becomes a duty,” he added.
