The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the temporary closure of selected roads in and around the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026, ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference and Elections.
The Command said the measure is intended to ensure public safety, facilitate effective traffic management and maintain security during the event.
In a statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, on Thursday, the Police identified three routes that will be closed to vehicular traffic.
They are the stretch from Bridginia Traffic Lights to Carvery Methodist Church, Unity Oil Fuel Station to T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, and Is My Kitchen Restaurant to Bridginia Traffic Lights.
The Command has also announced alternative routes to ease congestion and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles during the temporary closures.
Commercial vehicles from Amakom will proceed straight towards Asokwa, while vehicles coming from Asafo will be diverted at Bridginia Traffic Lights towards Asokwa or the Amakom Traffic Lights.
Commercial vehicles travelling from LLL towards T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School will also proceed straight to the Amakom Traffic Lights.
Vehicles travelling from Kumasi City Mall towards Afful Nkwanta Junction will be diverted through Bulldog Restaurant, while traffic from Afful Nkwanta will proceed straight towards Kumasi City Mall.
The Police have also outlined designated parking arrangements for vehicles attending the conference.
Only vehicles belonging to former presidents and the NPP presidential candidate will be permitted to park at the VVIP Car Park. Regional delegates arriving by bus, as well as national party executives, will park at the Heroes Park, while official Police vehicles will use the Hockey Pitch.
The Command stressed that all delegates and vehicles attending the conference must be duly accredited.
It said only accredited delegates and vehicles would be allowed access to designated areas and parking facilities.
Motorists have therefore been directed to display their accreditation prominently and comply with all instructions issued by Police officers deployed to the event.
The Police Command urged the public and motorists to cooperate with officers and follow the designated traffic arrangements to ensure a safe and orderly event.
