A fire has destroyed a PVC warehouse and nearby wooden structures at Avenor, in Accra's Industrial Area, close to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) office.
The blaze is believed to have started in the early hours of Thursday, sending thick smoke over parts of the capital.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed that the warehouse and wooden structures were affected and said firefighters had been deployed to the scene. They were joined by personnel from the Ghana Ambulance Service and the Ghana Police Service, who put safety measures in place to protect lives and property.
Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control and stop it from spreading to neighbouring facilities in the busy industrial enclave.
Authorities have not yet said what caused the fire.
Residents and motorists in the area have been urged to stay cautious and give emergency teams room to work.
The incident comes months after a major fire in June at the Accra Water Works, opposite the Accra Central Police Station, which destroyed parts of the Police Barracks.
