NPP executive elections: Justin Kodua dismisses claims of blocking constituency bus arrangements

New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary and aspirant for the same position, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has denied claims that he is preventing constituencies from arranging their own buses to transport delegates to Kumasi for the party’s national executive elections.

The allegations suggest that Mr Kodua is instead personally renting and providing buses for delegates travelling to the election venue.

In a statement issued by his campaign team on Tuesday, September 29, it said the claims were unfounded and that Mr Kodua had no role in organising or administering the upcoming elections.

“JFK is an aspirant in this election. He has no role in the organisation or administration of the upcoming National Delegates Conference or the National Executive Elections,” the campaign team said.

It explained that arrangements covering transportation, accommodation, feeding, accreditation, security and other logistics are not being handled by the Office of the General Secretary or the campaign team.

According to the statement, responsibility for planning and conducting the national executive elections had been entrusted to the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), meaning any official transportation arrangements fall within the mandate of the relevant election authorities.

The campaign team therefore urged delegates, party officers and members to disregard what it described as the allegations and focus on the facts.

It also accused some aspirants of resorting to what it called “baseless allegations and personal attacks” ahead of the elections.

“The JFK Campaign Team remains focused on engaging delegates on his record, the reforms undertaken under his leadership, and his plans to strengthen the structures of the Party,” it said.

The NPP is set to elect its national officers, including the General Secretary, with four aspirants cleared to contest the position: Justin Kodua Frimpong, Eugene Boakye Antwi, Sylvester Tetteh and Charles Dwamena.

The elections are being organised by the party’s National Officers Elections Committee, with the Electoral Commission providing supervision.
