NDC Solomon Jabari picks No.1 on ballot, declares “the seat is coming to me”

The battle for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairmanship in Atwima Kwanwoma of Ashanti region has taken a dramatic turn after Captain (Rtd.) Reuben Solomon Jabari emerged with the coveted first position on the ballot paper.

The former Island City Branch Chairman and prominent contender for the constituency chairmanship earned the first position after his vetting and the subsequent balloting exercise held at Twedie on Friday.

For Captain (Rtd.) Jabari, the ballot did more than determine the order of candidates; it became a moment of renewed confidence in his campaign.

“After the vetting, I pulled the first position on the ballot paper, meaning in the upcoming Constituency primaries I will win as Chairman for this Constituency,” he told journalists.

The incumbent Atwima Kwanwoma NDC Constituency Chairman, Hon. Simon Alooga, picked the second position.

Captain (Rtd.) Jabari interpreted the outcome through the lens of his political conviction, arguing that his first position was a sign that the chairmanship seat was destined to change hands.

He said the incumbent's second position should serve as an indication that the contest could usher in a new chairman for the constituency.

From Confidence to a Call for Peace
Interestingly, Captain (Rtd.) Jabari's bold confidence was accompanied by an appeal for calm and unity.

He urged his supporters and all party members to reject violence, respect the electoral process and allow the elections to proceed peacefully.

He further called on members to put love, unity and the collective interest of the NDC above personal ambitions before, during and after the elections.

Jabari Promises Discipline
Beyond the ballot battle, Captain (Rtd.) Jabari has also outlined a key component of his proposed leadership agenda: discipline.

He pledged that, if elected, he would establish a committee dedicated to maintaining discipline within the constituency and ensuring that party members adhere to the rules and structures of the NDC.

As the campaign moves into another phase, the first position on the ballot has given Captain (Rtd.) Jabari an opportunity to rally his supporters around a simple message: No. 1 on the ballot, and a determined push for the chairmanship.
