President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has linked Ghana’s recent economic improvement to increased investor confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership.
He said the country’s economic recovery demonstrates the significant role that trust in political leadership can play in influencing investment and the movement of capital.
Dangote made the remarks on Monday, September 21, when he spoke at the Accra Reset hosted by President Mahama on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to the businessman, the government’s approach has helped reassure investors and strengthen confidence in Ghana’s economic prospects.
He said the turnaround was not the result of extraordinary measures but rather decisions that helped restore trust in the country’s leadership and economic direction.
Dangote further said the Ghanaian experience illustrates the connection between confidence in leadership and the willingness of investors to commit capital.
“He didn’t do any magic. He’s not a magician, but he did the right things, and people really have a lot of trust in him. And that’s why Ghana’s economy turned around. This has actually shown that money follows trust,” he said.
